Where it all began.
An Opportunity Arises
Whilst The Sleep People was founded in 2014, it origins started long before. In 2009, Damian entered the bedding industry with his Starlight Beds brand. Starlight Beds focused on the contract market providing the hospitality industry with great value, premium products. In 2011, Extreme Comfort was founded. Tim saw a gap in the internet market for value mattresses delivered direct to your door. Both businesses were steaming ahead as the years continued with year on year growth until in 2013, an opportunity arose.
The Sleep People is Born
Tim and Damian began talks on creating a new company that could combine the quality products they offer with speedy delivery, allowing customers to receive a new mattress, made to order, within a couple of days instead of the norm of up to 2 weeks. This was a ground breaking concept for the mattress market but it meant careful planning required to ensure this could be executed. After many brainstorm sessions, they decided to give it a shot and The Sleep People was born.
Expansion, Expansion, Expansion
Deciding to keep both renowned brands, Starlight Beds and Extreme Comfort under the umbrella of The Sleep People meant even more products delivered even quicker to more people! Right from the off in 2014 this proved to be a hit. This meant the company needed to expand and fast! Moving from one 10,000 Sqft. unit to 2, doubling the business in size overnight.
Hargreave and Flynn
At the end of 2015, as the business continued to expand, Tim and Damian extended their partnership to the premium mattress sector. The brand, Hargreave and Flynn was launched. Hargreave and Flynn provide premium Pocket Spring Hand Stitched Mattresses. The brand has continued to grow throughout the years with a brand new range brought to market in 2024!
The Home of Foam
In 2022, we saw a gap in the market for great value, quality all foam mattresses and mattress toppers. This birthed The Foam People Brand. The Foam People has seen fantastic growth and their product offering now includes bespoke mattresses and toppers for the campervan, caravan and truck sectors. Their products continue to push the boundaries of all foam offerings.
Sleep Like a Baby
In 2024, we commence operation of our brand new cot mattress production line. This new production line has enabled us to bring a new product to the market increasing our production output by 2000 mattresses a week to a total of over 9000 a week! Complying with the necessary British Standard, these new mattresses ensure your babies safety whilst maintaining our competitive market prices.
